Bound Gods is one of the classiest gay pornsites around, not to mention among the hottest fetish sites. Bound Gods is the gay spinoff of the fetish conglomerate Kink.com. Launched during the summer of 2008, it's also the brainchild of director/performer/facilitator/artist Van Darkholme, who was hired in April '08 to helm the new site. BDSM is the core of the sex on Bound Gods. For those of you who may be acronym-challenged, that's a combination of bondage and discipline (B&D), dominance and submission (D&S), and sadism and masochism (S&M). The character of BDSM is fully explored on Bound Gods, in both physical and interpersonal manifestations, and all activities portrayed are by individual and mutual consent.

In one of the most unique real estate deals of the adult industry, Kink.com bought the landmark San Francisco Armory (1912-14) in 2006 for some 15 million dollars, to use as the setting for producing all their content, both gay and straight. That certainly set the bar for realistic sets. And what enhances the sets is the casting of a diverse lot of the sexiest California-based (or otherwise) pornstars who have come over to Bound Gods to explore their kinky sides, some even for the first time on video. The participants are many of the hottest pornstars around, and for a niche site, the variety of BDSM activities explored on Bound Gods is truly awe-inspiring. They have a devoted and active member community who comment in large numbers on new episodes. And bonus site Naked Kombat is outstanding - oil sex wrestling - nuff said!

First off, for such a serious theme, the titles of the episodes are enjoyably whimsical - like The Creepy Janitor and the Studly Student, The Crazy Perv and His Prey, The Rat Boy, The Captive Rebel from Budapest, Ride The Horse Cock, and The Human Stain. There is not a single un-hot guy on this website. The roster of pornstars who explore their dark side is incredible. And while many of the butchest are the masters who dominate their slaves, they too can be flogged into submission by Master Darkholme first. There are submissive bodybuilders and a couple of butch twinks. Nobody on this site disappoints.

Each video is prefaced by an interview with the guys, detailing what they'll be doing, asking what they've done before, and making sure it's all okay - and they get a safe word. There's also a post-sex interview, asking how they liked it, etc. This all may be for legal reasons, and these parts are separate clips, but as behind-the-scenes footage, it's always interesting.

Bound Gods explores bondage and discipline and the rest in a methodical, yet highly erotic way. There's not much that they won't try and I can't even attempt to list everything - leather, all kinds of restraints, a special kind of rope tying, fist and piss, fantasy, flogging, punching, shocking, gagging, electrodes, submission, master/slave, water, other substances, suspension, upside down, putting all sorts of things up the ass, clothespins, of course lots of fucking and sucking, and unending hard-ons. There are some themes - military, sports, auto, prison, etc. that just add to the heady rush you will get when you watch the videos. The master/slave scenarios run from one-on-one, to Master Darkholme overseeing the training of a new slave.

When considering the camerawork, this is where Bound Gods videographers have the benefit of built-in authentic sets, from bathrooms to jail cells, as the Armory was left as they found it. Videos are shot with at least two cameras, one hand-held, another tripod-mounted, or perhaps two hand-held depending on the set and action being filmed. Videography is uniformly excellent. Lighting can be bright or moody depending on the location. Sound is important - you gotta be able to hear all the grunts and groans and screams - it's occasionally echo-y, depending on the space.
