First day on the job and Kitt knew he wasn’t going to make it. When he signed up for the apprentice program he was only thinking about the money. Brick layers made more money than god! What he didn’t think about was the macho bullshit he’d have to put up with. Sure, he knew construction workers were gonna be homophobic and rude. He just didn’t realize how intimidating it would be to get up close and personal with a gang of professional gay bashers.
He’d never thought of himself as effeminate. Nobody ever called him a sissy at school. But then his school was a fairly liberal place and he’d known most of the kids all his life. These guys were hard core butch and they seemed to be baiting him, grinning at any sign of weakness or sensitivity. It just wasn’t a social style he was used to. Get over it or get out, he told himself. He lifted the handles on the big wheelbarrow full of brick and started back up the ramp with a grunt. At least I can get through the first day, right? I’ll finish the shift if it kills me! Damn bunch of mullet headed, future deadbeat dad’s ain’t gonna run me off my first fucking day! He gritted his teeth and clamped his jaw.
Up by the wall he began stacking his load of brick on the ready pile. He’d learned, by now, to turn his ass away from the men when he bent over. The boss, Cameron, came around to check on their progress.
“Jesus Christ! What you assholes been doing?” He bellowed. “This fucking wall ain’t gonna grow under your load of fertilizer! Buck? That’s the same goddamn run you was working on at ten o’clock! Stop the bull shit and show me some action!”
“Hey, boss! We going as fast as this kid can load. He’s new; he just can’t keep the brick coming fast enough!” Buck whined.
“Eat me, Buck! You think I’m blind or you just dumb ass stupid? There’s a half day’s ready right there! Looks to me like he’s four hours ahead of you! Don’t pass it off on him, you lazy bastard. I can hear you laughing and bullshitting way down at the office. You girls just having a regular party up here! Now get your finger outta your ass and lay some brick or I’ll call the hall, get me some new blood up here tomorrow! You savvy?” The gang went quiet, nobody looked up.
“Come on with me, kid. That’s enough brick to last them ‘til after lunch.” Cameron went off down the ramp and Kitt dusted off his hands, followed the tall, lean man.
“Uh, oh. You gonna get it, now, kid. All the new guys have to suck his dick, only way to keep your job!” Buck grinned. It brought a chuckle from several of the men.
“Yeah? That how you keep your job, Buck? I been wondering why he don’t fire you.” Kitt tossed back over his shoulder. The gang roared with laughter. Kitt didn’t look back but he shivered inside at the rage he knew would be on Buck’s face. The dumb fuck asked for it.
“Here, son!” Cameron waved him over down by the office trailer. “Unload this truck. Bring the green boxes inside the trailer. I’ll have to lock them up … hardware and shit. Put the brown cartons on the float. You’ll take them over to Harry, the electrical crew …okay?”
“Sure, got cha.” Kitt was just relieved to be away from Buck and the guys.
“Careful with those.. They’re small but heavy! Solid brass for all the hardware, can you believe it? That shit cost a fortune!” Cameron went on inside the trailer, unzipping his coveralls as he went. Kitt picked up three of the green boxes, about as many as he could handle, and followed.
“Uh, over here, I guess …” Cameron was taking off his blue coveralls, no underwear, he stepped out of them and moved to the side, near the wall. “Shove them here, back in the corner, behind my desk.” He pointed near his feet.
As Kitt bent near the man he could smell the masculine aroma of sweat and musky crotch. It was really strange to be bending over right beside the naked man. Damn, Cameron was a damn fine looking guy, too. Kitt hadn’t realized what a buff body the boss was hiding under that baggy blue denim. He kneeled to stack the boxes in the corner and turned around, glanced up.
“Wait, I donno….” Cameron frowned. “It’s gonna be crowded back there, huh? Don’t know where else we could put them …” He looked around the trailer, thinking. Kitt was pinned in the tight space. He waited, still on his knees.
The boss scratched at his balls as he thought and the movement drew Kitt’s glance though he’d commanded his eyes to stay AWAY from there! Goddamn! The boss sure carried a massive tool! A huge nest of black and curly hair circled the monstrous uncut meat. It jiggled as the man scratched and rubbed at his big, swollen nuts. Kitt suddenly remembered Buck’s comment about sucking the boss’s cock … that was a joke, right? About the new guys? Kitt swallowed hard. Goddamn! That would be a hell of a fringe benefit. He stared at the huge cock and felt his own swell under his tight jeans.
“You son of a bitch!” Cameron growled. “You a fucking faggot or what? Get your face out of my crotch, kid!” He stepped back with a startled jerk and covered his cock with the bunched up coveralls.
“I’m sorry, boss… I, uh...” Kitt climbed to his feet.
“Jesus! You got a hard-on, you fucking faggot!” The man’s face screwed up in disgust.
Kitt tried to push it down, to hide the condemning evidence. He flushed bright red; he could feel the heat of the blush rise up his face.
“Get out!” Cameron commanded. “Get your ass outside and let me get my pants on, alright?” The guy was truly embarrassed and nervous. “I’m sorry, kid. I never should have …Just go get another load of boxes, okay?”
Kitt was more than happy to get outside! Shit! He couldn’t believe the reaction he’d had. Not here, not now! How in the hell did he ever believe he could pass for straight? Stupid, just plain damn stupid! He’d be fired, now, for sure. Couldn’t even make it through the first day! He slumped and sighed a long tired sigh. He’d never felt so rejected in his life. He never though being gay was such a big deal. Well, time to grow up, huh? He took off his gloves, laid them beside his hard hat on the steps to the trailer and walked towards the gate.
He’d only got about half way when Cameron called him …, “Hey, kid? Come ’ere. Where you going? Get the rest of the boxes. It ain’t lunch time, yet.” The boss was stuffing his plaid shirt into his fresh chino pants, his belt hung open. “Come on back, okay?” He waved gently, tossed his head.
“I … uh, I think …” Kitt went back, didn’t want to be talking about it so loud. “I think I better quit, Mr. Cameron. This was a mistake. I can’t work in this kind of place … I, uh …”
“Forget it, kid. My fault. I stuck it in your face, shit! I really wasn’t meaning to give you a hard time, kid …” The guy actually grinned but wiped it away pretty quick. “Sorry, no pun intended!” He really looked contrite, seriously. “Forget it, please. I’ll keep my pants on from now on, I promise. Just grab the fucking boxes and forget it. It won’t happen again. Forgive me?” He stuck out a big, calloused hand.
“Huh? Well, sure.” Kitt took his hand, shook it for a brief moment before it drew away. “But it wasn’t just you … Buck and the crew? They all knew it as soon as I came on the site … I don’t know, it’s like I got a sign around my neck or something … They’ve been giving me a rough time all morning. This kind of place? It’s just bad for me, you know? It gives me bad feelings about myself … I can’t work in this kind of hostility … I just …” Cameron cut him off …
“Hey! Come on, kid. It’s not that bad … we’re just a bunch of red necks. Don’t let it get to you, man! Nobody means anything … it’s just teasing, you know? Don’t let it get you down. This is a pretty good bunch of guys when you get to know them …” The big guy grabbed Kitt’s shoulder, shook him gently. “My fat mouth, huh? I’m really sorry about calling you names and shit … I kind of over-reacted, I guess. I just never seen a man look at my cock like that, not a woman either if you want the truth… and when I saw you with a hard on, it scared the shit out of me, okay?” His eyes danced with amusement. Little quirky dimples kept winking from his leather cheeks. “We gotta learn how to get along, you and me … I’m sorry, for real. You could be a big help to me, kid … What’s your name again?”
“Kitt Cambell”
“Yeah, Kitt … Well, listen. I have to deal with fags, I mean, gays, all the time in the business … decorators, designers, architects … customers. Especially customers! Hell, half the remodeling jobs are for gay guys fixing up some old historic house. Shit, I’d be outta business if I couldn’t deal with them, right? So you hang in there with me, okay? Give me a chance to learn. If I’d known you was... gay, then I’d never have dropped my pants in front of you like that, I swear… I didn’t know, Kitt. And I’ll make sure Buck understands I don’t put up with harassment like that. Buck ain’t worth a shit, anyway. I’m ready to fire the whole bunch of bricklayers and start fresh! But you and me, we stick together, okay? We need a little diversity in this company. Stick with me and I’ll do you right, boyo! Deal?”
So Kitt stayed. Not every day a gay man gets to work around a bunch of macho brutes without the leering jokes and bullshit. Cameron was a nice guy after all. With him as boss, any job would be great. Not too bad looking at him every day, either. Kitt could never forget the naked image of that massive uncut cock and the curly black hair on the hard belly and the smell of ripe manhood! Shit, he dreamed about it! Every once in a while, he felt the stir in his pants and had to turn away. No point in showing Cameron what he was really thinking about, right?
At first, Cameron kept him close to the office when he was working for gay customers, to show off his diverse crew. As the summer went on, however, Kitt took on more and more clerical duties and became familiar with suppliers and billing and time keeping so Cameron kept him in the office all the time. With somebody else at the desk, Cameron was free to be on the job site more and the jobs went faster. Even the bricklayers came up to schedule with Cameron watching over their shoulder.
“Hot damn, Kitt! We’re gonna do it!” Cameron strutted into the trailer, ripped the zipper open down below his belly and fanned the material to cool off his sweaty skin. “If the electricians get done this afternoon and the carpet comes tomorrow, we’re finished! A whole week ahead of time! That’s a new record for us! … and we started this job so fucking slow! It’s you, you know it? I got to bless the day you walked in here, you saved my ass!” The big guy glanced down at his bare belly, grinned and pulled his zipper back up to a more modest level. “Sorry, Kitt… I try and remember!”
Kitt laughed. “It doesn’t offend me, Cameron, I swear. I don’t mind at all. You’re the one gets all nervous and worried about it.”
“Well, I’m just trying to say thanks … I’m not making an offer or teasing you or nothing, I wasn’t thinking.”
“I wish you’d stop thinking about it! After all this time, you should be able to change when you want to; take off your shirt if you want … How I react is my problem. It’s not your fault, right? And I have a firm commitment for carpet delivery at eight o‘clock in the morning. Did the light fixture for the dining room come in today? I didn‘t see an invoice.”
“Oh, yeah... Got it right here.” Cameron took a folded paper from his pocket and tossed it on the desk. He went on to empty his pockets of papers and keys and change, kicked off his shoes. “You don’t mind, really?” He opened his zipper all the way down, paused. “I mean, if you was a girl I could get in a lot of trouble for changing in front of you …?”
“But I’m not a girl, am I? Go on. If you don’t mind me watching, why should I care? Hell” Kitt laughed, “I’ll enjoy it!”
“Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of!” Cameron laughed but he went ahead and shook off his dusty coveralls and stepped naked from the baggy denim. “But I’m in a hurry. I’ve got a heavy date tonight, gotta run…” He glanced up and flushed at Kitt’s earnest attention. “Go ahead, get your jollies! Just don’t look at my ass, okay?” He grinned, a little embarrassed.
“I’ll look at anything you show me, boss! And Thanks … I was gonna ask you for a raise but you just gave me one!” Kitt laughed.
“Cut it out, all right?” But the guy laughed, too. “Hey, this is cheaper than giving you the raise you deserve!” He stood up straight and scratched at his big balls, clutched at his huge cock and shook it. “I’ll just give you free show every day instead of a raise, how about it?” His eyebrows danced.
“Gee, boss… I want to negotiate on that issue. Couldn’t you toss in more than a display?” Kitt carried the joke as far as it would go.
“No way, buddy! I doubt my girlfriend would understand.” Cameron pulled on his jeans, buttoned up his shirt. “Now, stand up and let me see if I did you any good …” He grinned.
“Hell no! I ain’t showing you, you ol’ bastard!” Kitt remained seated.
Cameron laughed. “Okay … You get a real raise as of Monday morning, okay? Give yourself another dollar per hour, with my blessings!” He scooped up his keys and change, fastened his belt and stepped into his loafers.
“Thanks, boss. Thanks for real!”
“No sweat, you earned it. I gotta run … Have you got the beeper?” He patted his pockets.
“I think you left it on the table …” Kitt jumped up and went to the drawing table, picked up the beeper and handed it over as Cameron was about to go out the door.
“Yeah, thanks … uh, I still got it, huh?” He stared down at Kitt’s bulging fly and grinned.
Kitt shoved him out the door with a laugh. “Yeah, but don’t gloat. Anybody looks good when I’m horny. Go, don’t be late!”
The big man loped off to his truck, tossed a wave and a wide grin as he turned out of the drive.
Nice job, better than he’d ever expected … Kitt thought as he locked up.
Next day should have been a day long celebration. The carpet installation was finished by noon and all the workmen were sent home early. It was a key lock job. Inspectors were lined up for the following day and if all went as planned, this was one for the books. The customers were ecstatic. They phoned three times to check the reality of the completion. Kitt went out for beer, brought back a six-pack but Cameron still wasn’t smiling. He’d been dragging a sad look all day.
At around three, he came into the office and opened his zipper, shrugged off the top of his coveralls and sat heavily in the desk chair. He just stared out the window … lost in thought.
Kitt took a couple of beers from the cooler and pulled a bridge chair over to the side of the desk. “Here you go, boss… now, tell me about it. What’s worrying you? Did we overlook something?”
“Huh? Thanks buddy …No. Everything’s fine. It’s just me. Sorry. Bad mood, can’t shake it.” He took a long drink of beer, sighed, fumbled with the cigarettes on the desk top. Kitt leaned over to light it for him.
“Thanks, again.” Cameron smiled a little. “What did I do before you came?”
“Lit your own smokes, I guess. Roughed it.” Kitt passed it off.
“That heavy date last night?” Cameron looked away … “I asked Tanya to marry me …” His voice was small and low.
“She turned you down?” Kitt frowned, concerned.
“Not only that … when I woke up this morning, she had all my clothes packed. She kicked me out, man! I don’t even have a place to go. It’s fucked up, huh?” He tried to grin, couldn’t do it.
“What happened, Cameron? How could she? … I mean …?”
“She said it’s been coming a long time… said it wasn’t me, said she wasn’t ready... You know all that bull shit. But it’s me. I waited too long, I guess. I wanted the money to be right, I wanted to have the company going strong. It seemed like everything was going so good … It floored me, man! Stunned me! I never saw it coming. She said she wants to date this other guy she met … she’s been thinking about it a while … I donno. I fucked up, that’s all… shouldn’t have waited so long. Too late …” His voice wound down to little more than a whisper.
Kitt swallowed a big lump, blinked back the dampness in his eyes. “Hey, man! It’s a woman thing, you know? She just wants some time to think about it… some distance. She’ll be okay, I know it! How could she not love you, huh? I mean … you’re great, terrific…”
“Yeah, I know you think so, Kitt. Thanks. I appreciate it, really. It’s nice to work with you, your confidence in me is something … makes everything easier, let me tell you … but Tanya doesn’t think of me like that, buddy … she thinks I’m just wasting time trying to build my own company. She thinks I’ll fall flat on my ass sooner or later... She’s scared of being poor. She likes success, needs it …”
“She’s crazy Cam … This company is solid! You’ve got a dozen people trying to line you up for jobs right now! I answer the phones all day, I know! You’ve already got the Drennen job going, we can move the trailer tomorrow and never lose a single day … The big Palmore project is next … You’ll have to hire a second crew by next month … goddamn! Let me talk to her, Cam … I’ll tell her…”
Cameron grinned, small and sad. “I’ve told her, Kitt. I’ve told her. She wants me to go to work for her dad, sell real estate and wear a tie … she wants shorter hours and a bigger paycheck, she wants security and kids … It ain’t never gonna work for us, buddy. I know it. I just gotta get over it. I wish she was as smart as you … I wish …” Cam looked at Kitt with serious intensity … “ I just wish she thought I was as hot as you do, man. She don’t even want me, not like that … she never cared much for sex, anyway … but lately … nada!”
Kitt’s brow wrinkled up … his mouth tried to hold back comment but let it sneak out anyway. “So, why did you want to marry her, huh?” He was surprised at the bitterness he heard in his own voice.
Cameron stared at him.
“Sorry. None of my business… “ Kitt tried to take it back.
“No, no… not at all. I opened the subject. I made it your business.” Cameron seemed to think it over. “I’m not sure, buddy. Now that I think about it … It was just my plan, you know? But these last few weeks … well, part of it’s your fault … you spoil me, you know? You see about my lunch, you pick up my cleaning, call for my dental appointments, pick up cigarettes for me, and bring me coffee or beer …” He held up his bottle as an example… “Even light my cigarettes when I let you… but that still bothers me some!” He grinned. “Tanya never did stuff like that. It was always me doing stuff for her… like she couldn’t clear the table or take out the garbage or anything … I brought her drinks, I made reservations to take her out, called about the cleaning woman … I donno why I put up with it. I though it would all change after we got married… I though a wife would do stuff for me, would help me more than a girl friend … but now I’m not so sure. And she always hated sex!” With that he laughed. “I used to think that was alright. I thought it was the right attitude. Sex is shameful, right? We shouldn’t ought to want it so much … but now I donno … I think I’d like to have sex with somebody who wants it as bad as I do … I get tired of begging, of chasing after it. It’s nice to have somebody want me for a change… like you. I just wish I could find the woman to live up to you, Kitt. You spoiled me.”
“Mmm. Glad to hear it, Cam. You need spoiling! You’re a good man. Any woman should appreciate that. If she can’t then she doesn’t deserve you! You haven’t been looking around, you’ve been too busy … Must be a million good women for you… just find one! She wasn’t the one Cam … Tanya just wasn’t the one. You were stuck in a rut…. Get over it and the next one will be better… and better. Come on, have another beer.” Kitt got up and went to the cooler. He needed to get away from the heat of Cam’s body. In spite of their words and his concern for his friend … the sight of his naked chest was still distracting!
“I keep hearing about this new bar… The Rude Tattoo, you heard of it? You should get cleaned up and go check it out. I bet there’ll be a crowd of happy ladies over there, just watching the door, waiting for you to show up!”
“Aw, not tonight, Kitt. Maybe soon, but not tonight. I just want to go hide somewhere, lick my wounds. Thanks buddy. Ain’t nobody else in the world I could talk about this to … you know?” He stood up and shoved his overalls down, kicked them off. “Anyway … I gotta go find a room, somewhere to stay a few days until I can get an apartment. Thanks.” He took the beer Kitt offered, turned it up and chugged it. Kitt glanced down at the gorgeous body but didn’t stare. It was enough, though. His fly tightened up. He stood very still and though about numbers, billing, dead dogs …
“Hey, hand me my pants before you bust your zipper, okay?” Cam grinned.
Kitt didn’t even flush. He was past hiding it from Cam. “Sure. Here you are …Hey, I’ve got a couch that folds out … if you’re interested … I’d be glad to have you … promise not to attack you in your sleep, nothing like that.”
“Shit …” Cam grinned, clutching his cock. It was slightly swollen, full and firmed up. “If you ain’t gonna attack me why should I stay? I was hoping for a warmer invitation than that!”
“You stay and I’ll make it as warm as you let me … but no more than you want, how’s that?”
“I hired you to teach me about diversity …” Cam pulled his jeans up over a massive erection, tucked it inside with difficulty. He looked at Kitt and smiled. “I think I’m ready to learn more … what can you teach me, Kitt?”
“More than you want to know!” Kitt grinned.
“I donno … I’ve been thinking about it a while … I think I’m ready for most anything … short of handcuffs and chains?” He pulled on his shirt.
“Don’t rule out the toys and games, not yet. Wait until you’ve …”
But just then Cam stepped around the desk and filled his hand with Kitt’s hot basket. “I’ve waited long enough … Been dying to know what that feels like … damn, it’s a big one, huh? And you’re such a little guy … He put his arms around Kitt and lifted him from the floor, pressed his face to Kitt’s neck. Kitt’s arms went around his back and hugged fiercely.
“Oh, my god… Cam …Ohhh, oh…mmmm!” Kitt moaned.
“What?” Cam laughed, put him down and forced him back …“Did you just get a nut? You couldn’t wait for me? Now you owe me, big time!”
“Right now … let me do it now! I’ve been waiting since the first time you shoved it in my face!” Kitt grabbed the thick shaft inside Cam’s jeans. “And I still don’t believe that was an accident!”
“Mmmm, so good… So good,” Cameron hunched his hips against Kitt’s face. “Not an accident … no … a lucky guess though, huh?” His knees went weak, he shuddered all over. “Aw, aw …yeah! Wish I’d had more guts that day … we could have been enjoying this for weeks!”

When I pulled up to the next spot, Ryan was standing by his upright post and taking a leak with his back turned towards me. I let the truck roll forward, squeaked to a halt just past him. When I got out, in front, he didn’t turn away. “Did you see the storm coming?” I pointed back down the road and he turned his head in that direction. “Aye, been watching ‘em. They moving slow.”
We had a small yard but the temperature was in the high nineties and the humidity was thick enough to float a steel ball six feet off the ground so Warren was sweating like Niagara Falls. He made the last pass and pushed the mower up by the steps, peeled off his tee shirt and climbed up on the deck with a massive sigh. “You should have let me help. I told you it was too hot …” He waved his
By late Saturday afternoon I was completely burnt out in Rich’s household accessories. Sometimes shopping just isn’t enough? I also picked up a couple of phone numbers, a clerk and a guy in the parking lot who looked really butch but friendly? So I called it a good day and went home. Warren was asleep on the couch while Wild Kingdom featured the life cycle of a green moth, fascinating stuff.
donnie d bellew ........ Tommy stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel just as he heard the front door open and quickly slam shut. “John? That you?” He called. “Well, yeah. Who else would it be, man?” His room mate came into the hall and stripped his tee shirt over his head. “It’s that kid next door, Kevin? He’s been over here twice already since I got home. He wants you to
With three trunks and several cardboard boxes full of papers, books and junk all smelling of whisky, mildew and pipe tobacco, it’s no surprise that it took me a month to discover the album. Uncle Harold had carefully packed up everything Granddad kept in his room and shipped it to me. I was his sole heir. Uncle Harold wasn’t really my uncle, just a long time resident in Granddad’s house.
I noticed him down at the end of the bar. He glanced up at me but didn’t smile so I didn’t try to talk to him right away. Still, we were both sailors, the only uniforms left in the place. Wouldn’t seem too odd if I spoke to him, would it? It was getting late and I guessed Tod wasn’t coming back. Several patrons seemed to leave at the same time and I looked around, wondered what time the place
I don’t generally announce my sexual tastes to just anybody I meet. I try and keep my private life private. Macall was just inquisitive as hell, though. He started in as soon as we began working together and wouldn’t quit. I kept avoiding his leading questions about who I dated and why I wasn’t married, etc. I actually told him it was none of his business, but that didn’t seem to make much of an
The Grand Obsession ... don bellew It goes like this: He looks okay, not too damn defensive or nervous. He keeps watching your eyes, trying to tell if he reads you right. He’s not sure. You look right at his crotch, again, smile. Now he’s certain and he either grins or he gets the fuck away from you fast as he can. If he takes off then you keep looking, right? So he grins or he laughs … he’s a
When two guys from the Tiger Club sat down beside him in the library, Darren immediately began gathering up his books and notes. Common instinct for self preservation told him these guys had no good intensions towards him or anybody else. The Tiger Club was the top of campus hierarchy and nerds were down in the nether regions, dregs of the college social order. Darren very carefully avoided
When the poker game broke up Wallace was still sitting there, leaned over his fists. I thought he was about to cry or something. "He's wrecked, drunk as a skunk!" Somebody muttered. "That damn scotch, he was okay with the beer. Never should have started with the scotch ..." "Don't let him try and drive home, Donnie ... make him sleep it off." He roused up about the time everybody
Weak in the knees ........... don bellew It had been cloudy all day, a dull silver sky that was growing dark in late afternoon. July it usually stayed light until nine but here it was only six-thirty and I was yawning. Too quiet, I guess. Quiet was the very reason I’d moved out to the country when I retired. I wanted to get out of the city and away from the sight of constant people.
I was staying late one evening at the office, just hanging around to use our great system to surf the net. My home PC is okay, just slow. The boss is cool. He knows what I’m up to. I don’t get paid by the hour so he doesn’t care how long I stay. He actually benefits because I answer the phones and take messages until I leave, maybe eight o’clock on a good net night. When the crew of janitors
Writer’s Camp ... by Donnie D Bellew He wasn’t spectacular. Not even pretty, just an average face with an interesting ... uh, aura? persona? How do you label it? He was on the large size, not his hips but his long bones. He’d need a double x large sweater just to cover his wrists. Belt too high, shirt too plain for him to be gay. He didn’t have the look, either. Maybe that’s what drew my
