Rodeo Boys Take a Break

by Mountaindave53@hotmail.com

Being a professional photographer gives me many unusual opportunities and that summer several years ago turned out to be one of those times. My friend asked me to come to his ranch to photograph the facility since it was used as a training facility for guys who want to be participants in rodeo events. After driving for what seemed like days, I finally arrived with my car loaded with camera equipment and film and all the goodies I hoped would allow me to record what he wanted. When I stepped out of my car, I gasped for breath...my goodness...it must have been over 100 degrees. I thought to myself...my camera is going to melt and so will I. After finding my friend, he introduced me to the manager who appeared to be 30 something or 40 something but with the ranch tanning and wrinkling, I didn’t have a clue but realized that maybe he was the Marlboro Man hiding out from Madison Avenue...quite rugged, quite manly, and not the basic pretty boy type. He was kind and showed me around and explained that after lunch...the boys would be doing some basic training and it might be a great time to get some action shots etc. I managed to drag myself and my camera around for a couple of hours and record some shots of the buildings and training area and some of the horses and so on. At lunch, the boys were all in a dining area and eating and generally raising hell as all young men do. After lunch, the activities warmed up and my camera got busy catching the boys in action. The manager came over and said...we want some individual pictures of each boy with his horse, so I found a shaded area...best for the portraits and best for me and my camera and let's include the horse also...they seemed happy to get a break. The manager would send along a new guy after each one was done. They were fresh-faced youths with lots of enthusiasm. The last one was Josh. The manager said to me before he sent him over...Josh is probably going to be a rodeo star one day...spend extra time on his pictures for me, okay, Dave. I was glad to oblige because Josh was one of those guys the camera loves...it would have been near impossible to get a bad portrait of him. He seemed to love the camera and would pose very well...adding body language and facial expressions that were on the edge of flirtatious. The other boys were not very comfortable with the pictures but went along with it. The manager gave the boys the rest of the time off and told them to report back promptly at 7PM for some important information etc. He came over to me and asked.... what did ya think of Josh. My reply was, "He doesn’t need to ride a horse...just stand beside one and smile and he is an instant model...good looking boy." The manager grinned and said, "That boy is a looker...no doubt." Then he explained that the road beside the horse barn would lead me out to the remote areas of the ranch and, if I chose to, could go there for some great shots. I decided to take a short nap then go exploring the ranch. After my nap, I hopped in my car and traveled the unpaved road and indeed the landscape became awesome...many stops to take a picture and moving onward. About 2 miles away, I saw a great rock formation and decided that even an old man like me could endure the hike so I grabbed my camera bag and headed toward them. I got many great shots and decided to climb up on the rocks and see what was there. On top, I looked down and saw two horses tethered to a tree. That got my curiosity up, so I moved downward amongst the rocks and got closer only to discover two of the guys doing some serious kissing and some shirts being pulled off etc. Well...was I gonna pass up that little show...No way. I did manage to get a little closer and by looking through the telephoto lens of my camera could figure out the back of the guy toward me was the manager when he turned his head to one side. But, as of then, could not see who was his kissing buddy. They shifted around slightly and there stood Josh with his dungarees around his ankles and the manager's hand wrapped around an obviously ample slab of hard meat making Josh moan. I saw one or the other go to his knees and then some hot cock sucking going on and finally Josh laid back on a big rock and wrapped his legs around the manager's back and some serious fucking took place. Finally they seemed satisfied both ways and were getting dressed, so I sneaked back over the rocks walking along with an incurable boner. I showed up for supper with the gang and enjoyed that then I also attended the 7 Pm meeting. I had made a policy of always getting involved because good shots arise on the moment and ya never know. I was outside, near dark, smoking a cigarette by myself when the manager walked up and said, " Gettin' good shots, Dave?" "Yeh...great shots." "How did ya like the back part of the ranch?" "Hey, that was great...thanks for showing me the way to get there," I replied. Then I nearly choked on my cigarette when he said, " Did ya get any shots of those two guys fucking on the rock?" Then he threw his head back and roared in laughter. "Josh and me set ya up, Dave...we knew ya would find the rock formation and we planned it so ya would catch us fuckin". For a terminal blabbermouth. I was speechless. Finally he asked...."Well, did ya get some pictures for me and Josh?". I had regained some composure and replied, "No dammit...I dont do that unless by permission." Then the manager said, "permission granted, Dave.... be there at 5PM tomorrow and bring lots of film." Then Josh walked up giggling and said, "So...are ya gonna be there, Dave?" I got brave and said, "Sure...who poses nude first for me?" The manager looked at Josh and said, "Guess Mr. Model oughta do that first." I still run across those negatives on occasion and always smile thinking of those boiling hot days on the ranch. I don’t follow rodeo events but once was in a quick stop store and saw a poster showing one of my shots of Josh on his horse advertising the event and it gave Josh top-billing. I guess Josh did become a star performer after all.

Ben and Jerry

I love to work in my gardens and early morning is the coolest time of the day in my area. In the longest summer days, I can often be at work by 6AM. Frequently, I need supplies from the local garden supply place and had gotten to know Ben, the manager, from my frequent trips. Knowing me so well, he gave me permission to drop the chain across the entrance and help myself to whatever

Joey

The man who usually does my lawn care and shrubbery had his wife phone me to tell me that he had been hospitalized and to check with me to see if it would be okay for Joey to do the work until he recovered. The lawn was getting so tall, it should have been baled into hay, so, out of desperation, I agreed for Joey to come over. I heard the truck come up the lane and looked out my

Larry the Gardener

Originally my old house in town was on a farm on the edge of town but time and urban sprawl has long since gobbled up the farm and left me a small acreage in town surrounded by fencing and old trees and shrubs. I enjoy flower gardening and keep the mulch and rotted manure pile on the back edge of my lot. One evening I was manhandling my wheelbarrow full of rotted manure at the back

New Car Disaster

Finally, I had been able to afford to trade the old rust-bucket car in for a new one. I had been keeping that old bomb running far beyond the time it should have been hauled off to the junkyard. In my work, as a sales rep for a photography supply company, I traveled often so a car was in effect a home away from home. I was completely enjoying the new ride. Traveling along a rural

Peter and Darrell

I was bummed out because the service manager at the auto repair shop had just told me that I would have a three hour wait until my car was fixed and I was stuck in a large city an hour's drive from my home and knew nobody and would not enjoy sitting there thumbing through boring magazines. After, I left the service desk, I saw a man standing there receiving his bad news...he also

Plumbing Disaster

There are many advantages to owning an old home but one bad thing is that something is always falling apart. I saw this disaster coming when the commode would not flush, so, I called the plumber who does my work and he dropped by to diagnose the problem. " Dave, it looks bad..we are gonna have to dig up the old septic system and replace it." Oh my...how long does that take,

The Back-Yard Match

Over the years, many college boys had rented the former carriage house behind my old house since I had converted it to an apartment for university students nearby. Todd and his friend Jason were typical of the macho, all-man type college students who prided themselves on their masculinity and were always jostling with each other over who could be more macho. I would see them shoulder

The Boy on the Ramp

I had stopped at the quick stop to buy a pack of smokes and stretch my legs and buy a soda. The trip was nearly over and I was almost home to my mountain place. As I approached the ramp, I saw him standing there with his duffel bag and his thumb out. I pulled over and he flopped the bag in the back of my truck and crawled into the seat beside me in my little Ford Ranger truck. He

The Coffee Shoppe

In my work, I must travel to many towns. I love coffee shoppe coffee so I have mentally mapped out the best coffee shoppes. I have found that college towns have the best coffee shoppes and amongst those, there is always my favorite. It is simply called Java and is in a small town with an all-male student body composed mostly of kids who have rich parents and a few non-rich kids who

The Grad Student

Having the old carriage house behind my old house near the university has provided me with many wonderful interactions with students but never an Asian student until Harry. I have never had to advertise it because the next renter always hears by word of mouth about it and calls me. Eric was leaving for the summer and he had told Harry who called. I answered the phone and a voice

Tony the Tiger

Many years ago, I shared a duplex building with Tony. The old house had been divided into an upstairs and downstairs units and I had the upper unit. Mostly, I stayed to myself and didn’t go out much and knew nobody in the town. I had seen my downstairs neighbor, Tony leaving in his truck and returning, but as of then, I didn't know him. Best I could tell, he was about 5 feet 9
